The Dark Caribbean West Marches Campaign
June 1st - Sept. 19th 2024
Overview
The Dark Caribbean West Marches is a Pirate Borg share open world campaign that's designed for open table play and episodic sessions with over 12 active GMs.
Join and play Pirate Borg online with other pirates, friends and scallywags. The campaign will run for three months (June 1st - Sept 19th) and you can play as often as you like.
Each week, PCs will sail the seas with different groups of players and GMs exploring the Dark Caribbean. Discover new locations, interact with famous NPCs, search for ancient treasure, and battle deadly foes. PCs that survive from week to week will gain experience and level up as they strive to become the most fearsome pirate to ever sail! Players are encouraged to seek out different groups via Discord, make new friends, plan missions to unexplored areas, and revisit locations other PCs have already discovered.
GMs will track and share progress reports, NPCs, locations, plot hooks, and rumors via a shared map driven wiki via LegendKeeper.com, which include tons of content previews from Limithron’s upcoming Dark Caribbean Kickstarter.
How Is It Organized?
Games are organized on Limithron’s Ship of the Dead Discord server, and information, maps, NPCs, and play reports are organized in a shared Legendkeeper.com world.
Who is running it? The Commodore— the lore master for the campaign who tracks major world events—for the season one campaign is Quartermaster Tyler. Contact him via discord: sorth24.
Season 1 dates: June 1st, 2024 through the weekend of Talk Like A Pirate Day, September 19th - 22nd, 2024.
Who can play? Anyone that signs up here!
Who can GM? A roster of ten or so GMs, organized by the Commodore. If you are interested, reach out to the Commodore. GMs that run games will earn credit towards Harbourmaster rewards.
Where is it played? Online, in the VTT or forum of the GMs choice: Foundry VTT, Alchemy RPG, Roll20, Discord and Theater of the Mind, etc.
Does it cost? Nope, it’s absolutely free!
About West Marches Style of Play
There are no regularly scheduled times.
There are no fixed groups of players; players can drop in and out each session and there are multiple GMs. Players can and should strive to play with different players and GMs. Regularly repeating groups are discouraged – meet and play with as many people as possible!
The players determine the direction of the game, as opposed to GMs preplanning the flow of the campaign.
There is no overarching storyline; the game is about exploration, discovery, and treasure, but there are world wide events that will affect the status quo for everyone.
Player’s choices can permanently affect the world. While the campaign will follow the course of the General History of the Dark Caribbean, decisions made during the campaign may find their way into future canon!

We will be tracking games and the world using Legendkeeper:
Each week the Commodore will prepare a short weekly summary of major events and changes in the world, and pass off any major details to the GMs (i.e. this port was destroyed, that NPC was killed, etc).
The world will be treated similar to a MMORPG: several groups can run into and interact with the same NPCs, and killing or injuring main NPCs may not take effect in the entire world, though particularly meaningful interactions may become canonized.
There is a public LegendKeeper (LK) world that all players may explore at any time. Information that is revealed in LK is considered either public knowledge or circulating rumors.
